| Marriage | Marriage Allegation Text: The twenty fourth day of December 1785 On which Day appeared personally Richard Wale, Baker and having sworn upon the Holy Evangeliste to depose the Truth upon his oath deposeth and saith that he is of the South End of the Town of Mountsorrel in the County of Leicester which hath been the usual Place of his Abode for four Weeks last past aged twenty six years and a Bachelor and that he intendeth to intermarry with Lydia Shenton, Spinster of the South End of Mountsorrel in the county of Leicester which hath been the usual Place of her Abode for four Weeks last past aged twenty two years and that he doth not know of nor believe any lawful Let or Impediment by reason of any Percontract, Consanguinity, Affinity or any other lawful means to hinder the said intended Marriage and prayed a Licence to solemnize the said intended marriage in the Church of Rothley in the County of Leicester Signed Richard Wale The Day and year abovesaid the above named Richard Wale made oath of the Truth of this Affidavit Before me H Woodcock, Commissary. | Marriage | Marriage Allegation Bond Text: Know all Men by these presents that We Richard Wale, of Mountsorrel in the County of Leicester, Baker, and Nathaniel Shenton of the same Place, Bricklayer, are held and firmly bound to Henry Woodcock Clerk S L-B. Commissary of the Peculiar and exempt Jurisdiction of the Manor of Rothley lawfully constituted in two hundred Pounds of lawful Money of Great Britain to be paid to the said Commissary or his certain Attorney Executors Administrators or Assigns for the true Payment sohereof We bind ourselves and each of us By himself for the whole and every part thereof and the heirs Executors and Administrators of us and each of us firmly by these Presents sealed with our seals Dated the twenty fourth Day of December in the twenty fifth Year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord George the third by the Grace of God of Great Britain France and Ireland King defender of the Faith and in the Year of our Lord one Thousand seven hundred and eighty five. The Condition of this obligation is such that if hereafter there shall not appear any lawful Let or Impediment by reason of any PreContract entered into before the twenty fifth Day of March One Thousand Seven hundred and fifty four, Consanguinity, Affinity or any other lawful Means whatsoever but that the above bound on Richard Wale and Lydia Shenton, Spinster, aged twenty two Years, of the South End of Mountsorrel in the Parish of Rothley County of Leicester, may lawfully solemnize Marriage together and in the same afterwards lawfully remain and continue for Man and Wife according to the Laws in that behalf provided and moreover if there be not at this present Time and Action Suit Plaint Quarrel or demand moved or depending before any Judge Ecclesiastical or Temporal for or concerning any such lawful Impediment between the said Parties nor that either of them be of any other Parish or of better state or degree than to the judge at granting of the licence is suggested and by him the above bounds on Richard Wale sworn to before the above named Commissary And lastly if the same Marriage shall be openly solemnized in the Church of Chapel in the Licence specified between the hours appointed in the Constitutions Ecclesiastical confirmed and according to the form of the Book of Common Prayer now by Law established And if the above bounds on Richard Wale do save harmless the said Commissary his Surrogates and others his Officers whatsoever by reason of the Presents Then this obligation to be void or else to remain in full force and Virtue.
